04 LNGCs of Knutsen naming at the same time

With the world’s original LNG ship land construction process, South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries is accelerating the construction of LNG ships, making LNG ships the most competitive products.

On May 24, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries held a naming ceremony for four 174,000cbm LNG carriers. The four LNG carriers are all built by Norwegian shipowner Knutsen LNG and are part of the largest single ship type project undertaken by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries since its establishment.

More than 80 related persons including Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries representative director Kim Hyung-Kwan attended the naming ceremony. The four LNG ships were named “Santander Knutsen”, “Huelva Knutsen”, “Ferrol Knutsen” and “Extremadura Knutsen”. Its names are derived from various Spanish place names closely related to Knutsen LNG‘s business.

It is reported that the four LNGCs named this time will be delivered from June this year until the end of 2025, after which they will be leased to oil giant Shell. This type of LNG carrier is a membrane type, with a total length of 299.6 meters, a width of 46.4 meters, and a depth of 26.3 meters. Both are equipped with dual-fuel X-DF engines, boil-off gas management devices, Hi-ALS air lubrication systems, and auxiliary power shaft engines, and Optimized hull and speed design. In addition, the series will incorporate “the latest industry knowledge and safety advice”, including MEG4 compliant moorings.

According to the International Ship Network, so far, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has undertaken a total of 15 LNG ships of the same type from Knutsen LNG, worth 3.5 trillion won (about 2.8 billion US dollars). This is also the largest single ship type project undertaken by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries since its establishment. 

A relevant person from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries said: “Since the company built and delivered its first LNG carrier in 2008, after continuous innovation, starting from 2018, it has been continuously building LNG carriers with the world’s original LNG carrier land construction technology. At present, the company has built and delivered 33 LNG ships, and we will cultivate LNG ships into the most competitive business field on the basis of the market trust accumulated by the successful delivery of these ships.” 

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries also said that thanks to the expansion of construction capacity and the increase in ship prices, the company’s operating income will reach 4.4 trillion won (about 3.5 billion US dollars) in 2022, and will exceed 60,000 in 2024 at the earliest. 100 million won (about 4.77 billion U.S. dollars). (Wang Chu)

4艘LNG船同时命名!现代三湖重工独创陆地建造工艺

凭借全球独创的LNG船陆地建造工艺,韩国现代三湖重工正在加快建造液化天然气船,将LNG船打造成为最具竞争力的产品。

5月24日,现代三湖重工举行了4艘17.4万立方米级LNG船的命名仪式。这4艘LNG船均为挪威船东Knutsen LNG建造,是现代三湖重工成立以来承接的最大单一船型项目的一部分。

现代三湖重工代表理事金亨宽等80多名相关人士出席了命名仪式。这4艘LNG船被分别命名为“Santander Knutsen”号、“Huelva Knutsen”号、“Ferrol Knutsen”号、“Extremadura Knutsen号”。其名称均来源于与Knutsen LNG公司业务紧密相关的西班牙的多个地名。

据悉,此次命名的4艘LNG船将从今年6月开始到2025年底前全部交付,之后将租赁给石油巨头壳牌(SHELL)。该型LNG船为薄膜型,总长299.6米、型宽46.4米、型深26.3米,均配备双燃料X-DF发动机、蒸发气体管理装置、Hi-ALS空气润滑系统和辅助动力轴带发动机,以及优化的船体和航速设计。此外,该系列船将纳入“最新的行业知识和安全建议”,包括符合MEG4标准的系泊设备。

据国际船舶网了解,迄今为止,现代三湖重工从Knutsen LNG共承接了15艘同型LNG船,价值35000亿韩元(约合28亿美元)。这也是现代三湖重工成立以来承接的最大单一船型项目。

现代三湖重工一位相关人士表示:“公司自2008年建造交付第一艘LNG船以来,经过持续的革新,从2018年开始,以全球独创的LNG船陆地建造工艺,正在连续建造LNG船。目前,公司建造交付的LNG船已达33艘,我们将在成功交付这些船舶积累的市场信任的基础上,将LNG船培育成最具竞争力的事业领域。”

现代三湖重工还表示,得益于建造能力的扩大和船价的提高,公司在2022年的营业收入将达到4.4万亿韩元(约合35亿美元),最快在2024年将超过6万亿韩元(约合47.7亿美元)。(王楚)
