Dalian Shipbuilding (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, said the world’s first LNG-fueled very large crude carrier (VLCC) Yuan Rui Yang has completed its sea trials on 11 September 2021. The gas trial is scheduled for later this year.
COSCO Shipping ordered Yuan Rui Rang as a standard fuel ship. However, COSCO signed a supplemental agreement at the beginning of 2020 with DSIC to use LNG-fueled power for its vessel. The vessel is classified into CCS.
Yuan Rui Rang has a length of 332.6 meters. The vessel is geared up with WinGD’s low-pressure dual-fuel main engine. It also has two 3500 cubic metres LNG storage tanks that meet C -type design. This is the first time that the vessel features corrosion-resistant steel instead of PSPC coating in structural design.
DSIC plans to deliver it to COSCOShipping by the end of 2021.
