Evergreen continuously places orders for 24000TEU containerships

CSSC Hudong Zhonghua has received the order from Evergreen Line for three 24000TEU newbuilds, which are now the world’s largest containership size. Evergreen has marked the ninth 24000TEU boxships ordered in CSSC shipyards.
On March 15, Evergreen announced that on behalf of the board of directors of its subsidiary Evergreen Marine (Asia) Pte. Ltd., it decided to order three 24000TEU container ships. The cost of each new ship is the US $160-190 million, and the total transaction amount is US $500-550 million (about RMB 3.173-3.490 billion).
No specific delivery time is revealed. The industry estimates that the three ships may not be delivered until 2025.
Together with the latest three, Evergreen has ordered a total of seven 24000TEU container ships in Hudong Zhonghua. In November 2019, Evergreen ordered four 24000TEU container ships in CSSC for the first time, and Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan Shipyard won two respectively. In June 2021, Evergreen ordered two more ships.
