On March 17, GTT received an order from Jiangnan Shipbuilding to design LNG fuel tanks for four dual-fuel 14,000TEU container ships of Singapore Pacific Line (PIL). It is reported that PIL placed an order for the four ships at Jiangnan Shipbuilding in early March. The new ships will be equipped with dual-fuel engines and use LNG or low-sulfur fuel oil.
It is worth mentioning that the new ship will also adopt an ammonia-ready design, which can be retrofitted with ammonia power in the future. Each vessel has an LNG fuel tank capacity of 13,800cbm and will be equipped with GTT‘s Mark III membrane containment system. These tanks will feature ammonia compatibility, providing shipowners with greater flexibility to operate in compliance with environmental regulations.
In addition to engineering services and on-site technical support, GTT will assist the shipowner in every aspect of the construction and operation of his first LNG bunker container ship: including the commissioning of LNG bunker tanks, first LNG bunkering operations, and specific containers Operation and maintenance of ship LNG fuel tanks. In addition, GTT will provide the G-Sim training simulator to provide training to the crew on the operation of LNG fuel tanks, which simulates the operation of the actual operation of the ship. Shipowners will also benefit from HEARS emergency response services and 24/7 technical assistance.
The vessels will also be equipped with the “GTT Digital” digital platform, a smart shipping solution for monitoring and optimizing their operational performance and environmental footprint.
It is reported that Jiangnan Shipbuilding will deliver the new ships between the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025. After delivery, these ships will become the largest container ships in the PIL fleet and the first batch of LNG-fueled ships in its fleet. ship.
Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, said: “We are delighted that PIL has chosen our bunker technology and continued cooperation with Jiangnan Shipyard. We strongly believe that LNG is the preferred solution for reducing the carbon footprint of the shipping industry. Ordered The vessel’s ammonia compatibility also provides greater flexibility and demonstrates GTT’s continued commitment to securing shipowners’ investment in the context of having to continually adapt to environmental regulations.”
