On February 14, the 24,000TEU ultra-large container ship No. 7 built by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation, was successfully docked at the longest dock on Changxing Island. This is the first major production node achieved by the company in the Year of the Tiger, marking that the construction of the world’s largest container ship has entered a new stage of comprehensive acceleration, and it also sounded the marching horn to seize the operation and production tasks in 2022.
Hudong Zhonghua has a total of 8 orders for this type of ship, and 7 ships are under construction at the same time. This year, it plans to deliver 3 ships, which will be independently developed and designed by the company. Equipped with a hybrid scrubber desulfurization device, it adopts the world’s latest green, environmentally friendly, high-efficiency, energy-saving, safe, and reliable design solutions. Fully reflected, it is currently the largest ship type in the world.
It is particularly worth mentioning that Hudong Zhonghua first adopted the bubble drag reduction system and the shaft generator system on the 24,000TEU ultra-large container ship, which became the two highlights of this type of ship.
The bubble drag reduction system can not only effectively reduce the total energy consumption of the ship, but also reduce the corresponding total carbon emissions by 3%-4%, which can roughly reduce more than 6,000 tons in one year of operation. The use of shaft generators can reduce fuel consumption, optimize EEDI energy efficiency indicators, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and at the same time significantly reduce the fuel costs of ships, with considerable economic and social benefits.
In the face of the heavy production task of multiplying large container ships and LNG ships in 2022, Hudong Zhonghua will take the spirit of the group company’s 2022 annual work conference as a guide, take precautions, implement precise policies, and fully implement epidemic prevention and control, production preparation and “stabilizing labor and ensuring production”. In the first week of Spring Festival work, the return to work rate reached more than 90%, which provided strong support for ensuring the completion of the annual task goals and improving the quality of economic operation.
