Jiangnan Shipbuilding wins another order for 3 large LNGC in the UAE

Recently, Jiangnan Shipbuilding and CSTC, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), signed a contract for the construction of three 175,000cbm LNG carriers. After the first batch of orders for LNG ships broke through, ADNOC once again took orders for large-scale LNG ships in a short period of time.

Jiangnan Shipbuilding complies with the latest international LNG ship design concept and independently developed and designed the 175,000cbm MARK III membrane LNG carrier (“LNG JUMBO”), which complies with the latest regulations and the comprehensive economic performance indicators have reached the international advanced level. This type of ship is equipped with the latest technology dual-fuel propulsion system, which can effectively reduce the escape of methane, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and meet the most stringent emission requirements. At the same time, it is equipped with a partial reliquefaction system to further improve the economic performance of the ship, and the ship control and operation management are more flexible. Founded in 1971, ADNOC is a state-owned oil company in the United Arab Emirates. It is a world-class oil and gas industry group company. Its product chain involves almost all fields and varieties of oil, gas, and petrochemicals. At the end of 2016, ADNOC integrated its three subsidiaries and established ADNOC L&S, shipping, and maritime logistics subsidiary. ADNOC L&S has the largest and most diverse fleet in the Middle East, transporting crude oil, refined products, dry bulk, containerized cargo, LPG, and LNG to global markets. In 2020, ADNOC L&S launched a strategic growth plan to expand and diversify its shipping fleet and provide a wider range of services to its customers, while supporting and facilitating ADNOC‘s upstream production capacity growth and downstream and petrochemical business expansion.

Previously, ADNOC L&S had signed the first construction contract for two 175,000cbm LNG carriers with Jiangnan Shipbuilding in March this year, and the new ships are scheduled to be delivered in 2025. The successful landing of this order marks that Jiangnan Shipbuilding has officially entered the large-scale LNG carrier construction market. With the order from ADNOC L&S, Jiangnan Shipbuilding has become the first shipyard in China to undertake the MARK III membrane type large-scale LNG carrier. This is also China’s first order for the pure international market in the field of large-scale LNG ships, creating a precedent for Chinese shipbuilding companies to directly cooperate with international leading oil and gas companies in the field of large-scale LNG ship construction.

Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, said: “In the changing global energy landscape, ADNOC is an active player with a focus on a reliable medium- to long-term transition fuel – LNG. It is understood that Jiangnan Shipbuilding was also commissioned by ADNOC L&S in 2020 to build five very large gas carriers (VLGCs) for AW Shipping, a joint venture between ADNOC L&S and China Wanhua Chemical Group. 增至5艘！江南造船再获阿联酋3艘大型LNG船订单

近日，中国船舶集团旗下江南造船联合中船贸易与阿布扎比国家石油公司（ADNOC）旗下ADNOC Logistics & Services（ADNOC L&S）签订3艘17.5万立方米LNG船建造合同，这是江南造船继实现大型LNG船首批订单突破后，短时间内再次承接ADNOC批量大型LNG船订单。

江南造船顺应国际最新的LNG船设计理念、自主研发设计的17.5万立方米MARK III薄膜型LNG运输船（“LNG JUMBO”），满足目前最新的规范规则，综合经济性能指标达到国际先进水平。该型船配备最新技术的双燃料推进系统，可有效降低甲烷逃逸，减少温室气体的排放，满足目前最为严格排放要求。同时配备部分再液化系统，进一步提升船舶经济性能，且船舶操控和运营管理更加灵活。

ADNOC成立于1971年，是阿拉伯联合酋长国的国有石油企业，是世界一流的石油和天然气产业集团公司，其产品链涉及到石油、天然气及石油化工的几乎所有领域和每一品种。2016年底，ADNOC整合了旗下3家子公司，成立航运和海事物流子公司ADNOC L&S。

据了解，ADNOC L&S拥有中东地区最大、最多样化的船队，将原油、精炼产品、干散货、集装箱货物、LPG和LNG运输至全球市场。2020年，ADNOC L&S启动了一项战略增长计划，以扩大和多样化其航运船队，并为其客户提供更广泛的服务，同时支持和促进ADNOC上游生产能力的增长以及下游和石化业务的扩张。

此前，ADNOC L&S已经在今年3月与江南造船签订首份2艘17.5万方LNG船建造合同，新船计划在2025年交付。该订单成功落地标志着江南造船正式进入大型LNG船建造市场。凭借ADNOC L&S的订单，江南造船成为国内第一家承接MARK III薄膜型大型LNG船的船厂。这也是中国在大型LNG船领域的第一个面向纯国际市场的订单，开创了中国船企在大型LNG船建造领域与国际头部油气公司直接合作的先河。
