On the afternoon of June 25, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Hai Phong, Nguyen Duc Tho held a warm meeting with the representative of the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam led by Ms. Louise Holmsgaard. The meeting is to discuss the offshore wind power project in Haiphong. Other leaders of departments of Haiphong city attended the meeting.

Nguyen Duc Tho welcomed the delegation of the Embassy of Denmark to visit the city and appreciated the introduction of the benefits from the offshore wind power sector to the country, with energy security and economic development.

Informing the delegation, Vice President Nguyen Duc Tho said that in the period 2016-2020, Hai Phong city has made comprehensive and outstanding development steps in many fields, national defense – security and foreign affairs, transport infrastructure is synchronously connected. This strong development attracts foreign investment FDI, reaching over 1.4 billion US dollars, 3.03 times higher than the same period in 2020, reaching over 57% of the year plan.

Regarding the city’s energy plan, Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Tho emphasized that in Action Program 01 in which the city clearly stated its priority for offshore wind power development. Accordingly, to focus on developing this project in Bach Long Vi island district, northern Thuy Nguyen area (Son Dao mountain area) and Bang La coastal area, Do Son district.

Ms. Louise Holmsgaard said Orsted Group of Denmark is the largest corporation in the world of the offshore wind power sector. With strong experience of Orsted, she believes that if the project is invested, it will add great contributions to the city’s development, the strategic decision in the green energy goal, and energy security.
