At 15:58 on February 23, the 210,000-ton Newcastlemax Bulk carriers No. 23 and No. 24 built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for China Shipping were successfully started in the joint workshop of the shipbuilding area. Relevant leaders of ABS Classification Society, relevant leaders of Beihai Shipbuilding, and relevant persons in charge of management, operation, quality, production, and other departments attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

In 2021, China Shipping will place a new order for four 210,000-ton bulk carriers in Beihai Shipbuilding. On the basis of mutual benefit, mutual trust, and win-win cooperation, the company’s re-blooming and fruiting also demonstrate the full trust of ship owners in Beihai Shipbuilding.

The two ships started this time are the first two ships in the 210,000-ton series, and their designs meet the Tier III emission standards and the latest HCSR common structural specification requirements of the International Maritime Organization.

Before the start of construction, Beihai Shipbuilding carefully implemented the preparation status of design, materials, manpower, site, quality, safety, etc., and all production technical preparations were advanced in an orderly manner as planned, meeting the conditions for start-up and continuous production. After the start of construction, Beihai Shipbuilding will focus on controlling the process cycle and manufacturing accuracy in accordance with the planning work requirements, and deliver it smoothly under the premise of ensuring quality and safety.
