On July 6, China Shipbuilding Trading and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (CSSC SWS) signed a contract for the construction of 4 7000TEU container ships with Taiwan T.S. Lines. The contract value is more than 300 million US dollars. T.S Lines marked its first largest shipbuilding order.
Under the contract, CSSC SWS has more than 10 orders for 7000TEU container ships, which is one of the advanced shipbuilding in the medium-sized container ship market.
The 7000TEU container ship featured the SEALION 7000 wide-body ship type independently designed by SDARI.
The vessels are constructing aiming to be energy-saving and environmentally friendly in line with IMO Tier Ⅲ emission standard, sulfur oxide meets IMO sulfur cap. The container vessel is designed with a total length of 272 meters, a profile width of 42.8 meters, a profile depth of 24.6 meters, and a full-load draft of 15 meters.
These new vessels are scheduled to deliver between April and November 2024. Then they will operate on the India-Pakistan route, becoming the first batch of medium and long-range vessels for T.S. Lines in the next 20 years.
