This series of dual-fuel vehicle transport ships is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a design draft of 8.6 meters, a gross tonnage of about 69,000 tons, a design speed of 19.0 knots, 12 vehicle decks, a high-pressure dual-fuel main engine, and two about 1,700 cubic meters The C-type LNG gas storage tank has the characteristics and advantages of economical environmental protection, safety, intelligence, and high efficiency, nitrogen oxides meet the requirements of Tier III emission standards of the International Maritime Organization, and the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) meets the requirements of the third stage, and is listed in DNV. This series of ships is independently designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), adding design contents such as safety, network security, and port noise control for loading new energy vehicles on the whole ship, and Ammonia Ready as a design option, in order to meet the requirements of the “carbon peak, carbon neutral” strategic goal.
According to the plan, the first ship of this series will start construction in the third quarter of 2024 and be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025. The first four new ships are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026. Three ships are expected to be delivered in 2027 after the alternative ships come into effect, and one more will be delivered in 2028.
This project is another major breakthrough in the field of car carrier construction since Weihai Jinling signed a construction contract for six 7000-vehicle projects with Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), a Singaporean shipowner, last year, and is another milestone in the company’s product structure transformation and upgrading process. products, further enhancing the company’s competitiveness in the international ro-ro market.

It is understood that GCC is a company headquartered in Oslo, the capital of Norway. It has been established for 40 years. Its operation management company is located in Singapore. Its fleet now operates 22 ships. It is the third largest supplier of automobile transportation companies in the world. A trusted provider of marine and logistics solutions, GCC provides safe, efficient, and on-time vehicle shipments to a customer network of major global and regional car carrier operators.
Previously, GCC announced in April that it would establish a new company, Global Auto Carriers (GAC), as the buyer to sign a construction contract for 4+2+2 dual-fuel vehicle carriers with 7,000 parking spaces in Weihai Jinling. This is the first time GCC has placed an order in the past decade.
Clarkson‘s data shows that the last time GCC ordered a new ship was in 2012 when the company ordered 2+2+2 6,700-car space car carriers at the Changhang Heavy Industry Jinling Shipyard (now China Merchants Industry Nanjing Jinling). In 2014, the first 2 alternative orders took effect, and the last 2 alternative orders did not take effect. In 2015, Jinling Shipyard delivered the first ship “Viking Adventure” built for GCC, which was the largest car carrier built and delivered by a Chinese shipyard at that time.
In addition to the latest orders from GCC, the number of orders for Weihai Jinling car carriers has now reached 14, ranking first in the world.
